The morning was truly awful. The Sun had stopped shining. Mrs Normal was feeling under the weather

and everybody was feeling  SAD.

Minnie and Max Normal took their daily Vit Heroes Calcium & Vitamin D to help make up for the lack of sunshine and wondered what to do.

Minnie: I’ve heard that nasty Professor Processed has gone to the Sun and switched it off.

Max: Switched it off? Why would he do that?

Minnie: He likes everyone to feel miserable and this way he can make everyone in the whole world suffer.

Max: Time for action. Mum definitely needs sunshine if she is to shake off her nasty cold. Dad needs sunshine for growing his vegetables. And people are bumping into each other all the time, because it’s so dark out there.

Minnie: OK. Let’s whirl!!

Minnie and Max whirl around rapidly on the spot and, as they gather speed, turn into … Vita Girl and Vita Boy.

Vita Boy: We’re off to the Sun to deal with that nasty Prof. Defor you keep an eye on things here!

Vita Girl: We’ll take Kylie and Newt along too. They could be useful.

Pausing only to gather their young sidekicks, Vita Boy and Vita Girl join hands with Kylie and Newt, then leap upwards

into space. They leave Mr and Mrs Normal, their house, their street, the land and soon the Earth far behind them.

Higher and higher they climb, four figures hand in hand, leaving a trail of jet stream behind them. They fly toward the Sun,

which is now just a dark round shadow, with a thin halo of light around it.

Vita Boy: Ready to land everyone? 1, 2, 3 …

Vita Girl: We’re here. Good job we all wore heat resistant boots or our feet would be on fire.

Kylie: It’s still dark though.

Newt: Yes, but I can just see the outline of the evil Prof on the horizon, over there.

Vita Boy: He seems to be standing beside a giant On/Off switch. That must be how he turned off the sunlight.

Prof Processed: Go away you horrible kids. You will ruin my master plan.

Vita Girl: What’s that? To stop fruit and vegetables and cereals growing naturally, so that everyone will have to eat your processed food.

Prof Processed: You’re too clever by half Vita Girl, but you can’t stop me now. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Vita Boy: We’ve got to distract him somehow … I know. Newt ask him if he’s having a nice day. But shout really loudly, he hates nice days!

Newt: I’d love to. ARE YOU HAVING A NICE DAY, PROF!!!

The evil Prof looks up in alarm as a SURPRISINGLY LOUD NOISE comes from quite a small boy. Then his hands fly to his ears

and he tries to block the terrible noise. Sort of shrill, sort of shrieking, sort of chalk on blackboard, but most of all

VERY, VERY LOUD!!

Vita Girl: Look, he’s let go of the switch. Turn the sunshine back on Vita Boy and I’ll knock him into deep space.

With one bound, Vita Girl rockets to the Professor’s side and strikes him a powerful blow, taking the evil genius off balance and sending him spinning off into space.

Prof Processed: Aaaah! You haven’t seen the last of meee…

Vita Boy pulls the switch and the Sun starts to turn back on.

Vita Boy: Time to get out of here, before we’re all burned up. But first, Kylie have you got that jam jar I asked you to bring?

Kylie: Here it is VB, but why do you need it?

Within moments, the four friends are jetting off into outer space once more, hurtling back towards Earth.

Vita Girl: Ready for landing! Bend your knees everyone …

With a cloud of dust and a few broken flowers (which Max and Minnie will have to explain to their father later), the foursome fall back to Earth. Or the Normal’s back garden to be precise.

Pausing only to twirl back into their Normal selves, Max and Minnie run into the house and up to their parent’s bedroom, where their mother is still rather poorly in bed.

Max and Minnie: Look what we’ve go you. It’s a jar of sunshine. We’ll put it here, on your bedside table, and you should start feeling better in no time.

The jar of sunshine, gathered by Max at the last moment from the Sun, glows brightly in the bedroom. Its brilliant rays of energy reach out toward Mrs Normal, making her feel instantly much better.

Mrs Normal: That’s wonderful! I feel warmer and healthier already. But where did you get it? How could you possibly…?

Minnie: Don’t worry about that now. We’ll tell you later. Got our homework to do…

Max: Yes, must do our really interesting homework! Talk to you later. Bye!

Minnie and Max leave hurriedly, before they reveal their secret lives as Vita Girl and Vita Boy.

Because they could never actually lie to their mother … avoid telling the exact truth perhaps.

Mrs Normal: Did you take your multivitamins?

Max and Minnie: (calling back from the stairs): YES!!!
